Apple’s big announcement is coming up tomorrow, October 4 where the next iPhone is believed to be revealed. But a bunch of rumors have suggested that Apple will also show off a cheaper alternative of the iPhone 4 (known as the iPhone 4S). And now, some folks from Brazil have managed to get into the Brazilian unit of Foxconn to get a sneak peek at what seems like a cheaper alternative of the iPhone 4.
The witnesses claim that this phone bears resemblance to the iPhone 4, but the new model number (N90A) raised suspicion about this handset being the iPhone 4.
The regular iPhone 4 would either have the model numbers N90 or N92 for GSM and CDMA versions respectively, but the addition of a new model number seems somewhat interesting. Rumors of a cheaper iPhone 4 for developing markets have taken a good shape until now, and we expect Apple to shed some more light on this tomorrow in the presence of the new CEO, Tim Cook.
Cases of the iPhone 4S have leaked on the web which almost confirms these rumors. Add to that, we’ve seen the iPhone 4S appear on American carrier inventories which is again reassuring. The sound of a reasonably priced iPhone sounds pretty convincing to us, and it was only a matter of time till Apple started targeting the mid ranged market segment as well.
It is believed that the iPhone 4S will feature the same physical structure more or less with some upgrades under the hood like a dual core Apple A5 processor and an 8-mega pixel camera sensor for sharper images and 1080p video recording.
It is however a bit hard to believe that Foxconn let outsiders inside their Brazilian unit given Apple’s strict regulations against leaks. So there’s every possibility that this leak was self made just to create excitement. There’s not much time left for the official announcement, so hold on to your thoughts.
