iPhone-Ticker, a German site, recently came across the listings of iPhone 4S models on Vodafone Germany’s official website. The company has listed the models on its iPhone 4 bumper pages, under accessories, as devices compatible with the bumper. Experts warn that the listings might actually be placeholders simply based on rumours doing the rounds in the smartphone world.

On the Vodafone site, the iPhone 4S is listed under different models including 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. The latter has got fans excited, many of whom have been looking forward to an iPhone with a large capacity. What’s more, the site has also listed an iPhone 4 with the capacity of 8 GB. From the looks of it, all the phones will be available in both black and white.

Experts feel that if indeed the company is coming out with a new smartphone, Apple might be going the iPhone 3GS way, reducing the iPhone 4’s capacity and price by leaps and bounds to make way for the company’s next generation device.

Many feel that these listings could have a deeper meaning too, that since Vodafone is Apple’s partner in Germany, the company might have inside information about the models Apple will unveil today. Moreover, the Vodafone listings coincides with the ones found on the beta version of iTunes Apple recently released to its developers.

Maybe all parties concerned are using the term ‘iPhone 4S’ as a placeholder, given how secretive Apple usually is about its products. But then again, there might just be something deeper hidden amongst all these rumours.

What is interesting is that there is no listing of the iPhone 5 on the Vodafone site. Is Apple really going to ditch us all with the iPhone 5’s no-show? If so, the company is sure to lose a chunk of its loyalists to Android. The world is waiting with baited breath today for Apple to prove that it is indeed on top of the game once again.
