iPhone 4S is here

Apple announced the arrival of iPhone 4S at its ‘Let’s Talk iPhone’ event in California yesterday. Powered by the A5 chip, the smartphone packs a punch with its new voice recognition feature

The world was waiting for the iphone 5 but Apple gave it the iPhone 4S instead. But Apple loyalists’ needn’t be disappointed because despite the name, Apple’s new phone has a number of upgrades to offer. It will begin retailing in 7 countries by next week, starting October 14.

The iPhone 4S is a powerful and speedy machine, running on the dual core A5 processor chip that powers the iPad 2. Even the memory on the phone is something to look forward to, since models range from 16 GB and 32 GB to the unbelievable 64 GB. The world phone will be available in the US within a range of $199 and $399 on a contract basis in both black and white.

The newest feature offered in Apple’s smartphone is Siri. The voice recognition software understands the user’s voice commands and gets the phone to act in response to instructions. The ‘Assistant’ will do anything for the user, from finding a store and sending a message to reminding the user to buy milk. What’s more, the software supports English, French and German.

The camera of the iPhone 4S has been spruced up as well. The 8 mega-pixel camera is capable of capturing HD video at 1080p. It is said to click a picture within 1.1 secs and sports a hybrid IR filter and a larger f/2.4 aperture.  

Apple’s latest offering comes pre loaded with the new iOS 5 as well. The operating system features new apps like Cards and Find My Friends. iMessanger makes communicating very easy for users across Apple devices. The Notification Centre holds notifications from all of the user’s applications in one convenient location and makes networking seamless. Upgraded Safari and Email are remarkably handy and make staying in touch child’s play. Apple’s Twitter integration now allows users to tweet through applications like YouTube and Photos as well.

The iPhone 4S has given the smartphone world a lot to look forward to, especially with Siri. Don’t let the name and the design fool you, dig deeper and discover all that Apple has to offer with the iPhone 4S, the iCloud and the iOS 5.
