Ever Since Steve Jobs’ demise last week, everything related to Jobs is selling like hot pies. Therefore, it seems quite logical that someone or the other would acquire rights to his upcoming biography.

Steve Jobs’ biography has been penned by CNN chairman and Time magazine Managing Editor Walter Isaacson and will hit the shelves on biopic, 24th this month.

Steve Jobs has left behind an unprecedented mass influence. His death has left an influence in every part of the world. And, that is why a reputed studio such as Sony Pictures is trying to get the movie rights of the biography. It is rumored that the deal is being finalized to the tune of $1-3 million and Mark Gordon might be roped in to produce the biopic.

While Sony Pictures is yet to confirm the news, it is most probable that some or the other movie studio will acquire the rights to Jobs’ biography. It has been a burgeoning trend to convert the biopic of famous people into movies.

Who doesn’t remember Moneyball or the recent The Social Connection? Sony has already been credited with the success of those two.

The Steve Jobs biography was set to be released on November 21st, but, following his demise, the release date has been moved up to October 24 to cash on the Steve Jobs craze.

The 448 page biography is taken from 40 interviews with Jobs himself and more than 100 conversations with Jobs’ friends and family. The Jobs’ biography which was earlier titled iSteve: the book of Jobs has made it to Amazon’s top seller list even before its release.

Jobs had in fact selected Isaacson himself to write his biography. Even if the Sony deal gets finalized, this wouldn’t be the first time someone has made a movie on Jobs.

Two earlier flicks – Pirates of the Silicon valley made on Bill Gates and Jobs and Fire in the valley: The making of the personal computer have also had parts about Jobs.

There was also a telefilm in which Noah Wyle played the role of Jobs. Jobs became so impressed with Wyle’s portrayal, that he invited him to be the Apple keynote speaker at the Macworld 1999 expo.

If and when the deal gets finalized, it would be interesting to note who plays Jobs. Would it be George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, or Tom Cruise?

Keep guessing.
