Rumor: Google Nexus Prime could launch on November 3

After the announcement of the Ice Cream Sandwich update at the Google I/O conference, we began anticipating a October/November launch of the new OS along with the next Nexus handset from Google (manufactured by Samsung). But people in the Android camp were worried that the iPhone announcement would overshadow anything that would come next. But thanks to the not so convincing announcement, Google has a chance to divert people's attention from the big announcement.

With Eric Schmidt mentioning that a November launch date was on the cards, we didn't quite know when to expect the handset. But now a source close to Phandroid has revealed that the Nexus Prime will be formally shown off on November 3.

It was previously rumored that the announcement could take place this month, but it seems like November 3 will be the likely date. We're not sure if the source can be believed, but since this is not the first time we're hearing about a Nov 3 launch date, we are quite certain. But things like these always show up on the web and turn out to be wrong sometimes, so we recommend you to take it with a pinch of salt.

The Nexus Prime will feature Samsung's latest hardware packed in a typical Samsung casing. As of now, it is believed that the Nexus Prime will feature a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD display which will bring the highest display resolution on a smartphone.

Other specs include a 5 mega pixel camera capable of shooting 1080p Full HD video. The 1.5 GHz Samsung Exynos chipset will make all the hard work look easy. It is however disappointing that Samsung has stuck with the 5 mega pixel sensor for the camera again. We fans were expecting an 8 mega pixel sensor at least. Either way it should be interesting to see Google's marketing strategy for this new beast.
