Slashgear recently got its hands on pictures that were taken by Google engineers Roman Kirillov and Chris Yerga and put up on Google+. One of the pictures showcases a lady and a gentleman sitting on a couch and the other portrays a message wall full of dedications to Steve Jobs scribbled on post-its.
The seemingly mundane pictures are important because their EXIF data points out that they were shot on the Galaxy Nexus. The pictures list ‘Galaxy Nexus’ under their camera settling, confirming that the smartphone has indeed been renamed.
Even though the pictures are quite clear, they hardly showcase the phone’s rumoured 8-mega pixel. This is because Google+ resizes pictures that are uploaded on the system via a default setting to 3-mega pixel.
The pictures have roused the interest of people the world over, especially since Samsung’s latest offering is slated to compete directly with the iPhone 4S. The phone was supposed to release this week, but its unveiling was postponed as a sign of respect to Steve Jobs, Apple’s co-founder who passed away last week.
Experts believe that the delay in the phone’s release will also give the company time to sort out any glitches and copyright issues faced by the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The word around town is that the Galaxy Nexus will be unveiled to the world early next month, probably around November 3.
The renamed Galaxy Nexus promises a bunch of new features including a smart OS, an 8-mega pixel camera capable of HD video recording and a Super AMOLED HD display. Come November and the Samsung smartphone will finally be pitted against the iPhone 4S. It will be interesting to see how the competition heats up and who makes it to the top.
