LG has the world wondering when it will see the Optimus LTE outside of South Korea after a hands-on video and ad showcasing the smartphone surfaced on YouTube

Gsmarena came across a video recently uploaded on YouTube featuring someone using LG’s Optimus LTE smartphone. Another video showcases the device in an advertisement for the first time. Optimus LTE was recently launched in South Korea but plans about a global release are still unknown.

The two videos have caught the attention of smartphone enthusiasts because LG’s latest offering promises to pack quite a punch. If the phone is released worldwide, it might just be able to give some tough competition to market leaders Apple and Samsung.

The Optimus LTE is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and offers 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal storage. A 16GB microSD card also comes with the device that runs on a 1830 aAh battery. What’s unique about the phone is its 4.5’’ IPS LCD display which features a resolution of 1280 x 720p, making it truly HD.

In addition, the smartphone has an 8 mega pixel rear facing camera, equipped with a LED flash, which is capable of capturing HD video at 1080p. A front facing 1.3MP camera makes video calling easy and an HD movie editor ensures that making movies is a very real possibility on the Optimus. The phone also comes with an HDMI port, DLNA support, HSPA+ connectivity and of course, as the name suggests, LTE connectivity.

According to LG the Gingerbread smartphone has “the highest resolution IPS display” in the market. It would make sense then for the company to release the device world wide. If the phone hits the global retail markets this quarter, it might be able to carve a nice for itself somewhere between Apple, Samsung and Motorola.
