The iPhone 4S has been benchmarked ahead of its arrival in stores and its scores have been published online by a source. A sample picture clicked by the phone’s camera doing the rounds on the internet has further added to the excitement surrounding the phone’s release.
Gsmarena got hold of the benchmarked scores and found that the phone indeed lives up to the expectations the world had set for it. The iPhone 4S has been benchmarked on various fronts, ranging from it’s browser to its processor.
The smartphone’s browser has been benchmarked on the BrowserMark platform. iPhone 4S’s Safari scored an incredible 89,567, leaving its toughest competition, the Samsung Galaxy S II, and its own predecessor, the iPhone 4, way behind with scores of 55,144 and 51,701 respectively.
On the Sunspider JS Benchmark, the phone came first followed by the iPhone 4 which came second. Even though Safari powered by iOS 5 scores the best, the iPhone 4S raced ahead of the iPhone 4 because of its A5 SoC, which is way more powerful than the A4.
The Graphics Processing Unit of the iPhone 4S is 7-8 times better than that of the iPhone 4 too, according to the benchmarked scores. Even the phone’s camera is something to write home about. The picture of a one Dollar note that has been clicked with it is sharp and quite clear, despite the fact that it seems to have been taken indoors in little light.
With specs like these, it’s no wonder that Apple sold over 1 million units of the iPhone 4S in pre-orders on the first day. The company has certainly upped the standard of smartphones, leaving others including the Samsung Galaxy S II in its wake.
