Google has been quite silent after launching its music service way back in May. The service dubbed as "Music Beta," allowed users to store up to 20,000 songs remotely. The users could then access it from any given point of time using a compatible gadget. However this new service did not provide any provision for downloading music. It also did not allow users to tune into a music that they had not uploaded themselves.

If the reports are to be believed it seems that Google is gearing up to launch an MP3 store. The news comes via New York Times, which stated that the search giant in talks with some top record label and is close to sealing a deal.

According to CNET there is no final agreement yet. CNET's reporter, Greg Sandoval writes, "several other industry sources told me that there is no final agreement about the MP3 store and talks are further along with some of the record companies than they are with others." He further stated that, "Google is talking about an MP3 store at a time when MP3s and music downloads have been eclipsed in popularity by streaming services and the cloud."

The Google MP3 store will be integrated with Google Music Beta. It will resemble a similar set up as that of Amazon’s Cloud Player and Apple’s iCloud.

However so far there has been no official confirmation from Google.

Interestingly the Google MP3 release is pegged "couple of weeks away". There is a slight possibility that the upcoming Google mega event on October 19 in Hong Kong, could see more than Ice Cream Sandwich launch. Know Your Mobile will keep a close watch on.

Stay with us on October 19, we will be live blogging about the Samsung-Google event.
