Nokia is holding its annual conference in London next week. The expected presence of a number of Microsoft employees at the event has the world guessing that Nokia will finally showcase its newest devices powered by the Windows Phone 7.5 OS. Nokia has been repeatedly saying that it will release these devices at the end of the year.

A leaked document detailing the release schedule for Italian cellular carrier TIM has the tech world anticipating that the new Nokia smartphones will hit the European markets as early as November, soon after the Nokia conference. The schedule does not detail which handset will be sold and at what price though.

Nokia has been tight lipped about its new devices though a series of leaks on the internet have got rumour mills churning about the specs of the smartphones. Nokia and Microsoft enthusiasts are looking forward to the phones codenamed ‘Sea Ray’, ‘Sabre’, ‘Sun’ and ‘Ace’.

The ‘Sea Ray’ has been the most talked about device the past few months and with good reason. It is powered by a 1.4GHz processor and offers 16GB storage. It has an 8MP Carl Zeiss camera and a 3.7’’ AMOLED screen. It has a comfortable pillow shaped back too. The ‘Sun’, ‘Sabre’ and ‘Ace’ are not far behind with similarly impressive specs.

Ideally, this would be the perfect time for Nokia to launch its new phones. With the competition racing ahead and the holiday season just around the corner, Nokia and Microsoft need to get their acts together and jump into the game – quickly. There is a strong chance that the partnership of the two might help them carve a niche for themselves, especially among those users who are used to Microsoft products and are hesitant to change over to other operating systems.
