
Samsung announces 'Bada 2.0 Power App Race' global contest; prizes upto $100,000

Samsung's global contest calls developers to create innovative applications using the bada 2.0 SDK

The Korean giant has announced its bada 2.0 Power App Race. In its second year, the global contest offers 10 best applications -five game applications, and five non-game applications a prize money totaling $100,000.
In addition all the best applications will bear a ‘Power App’ seal at Samsung Apps and exclusive marketing and promotion benefits. The contest calls for developers to be creative and innovative and develop applications using the bada 2.0 SDK.
Kang-hyun Kwon, Senior Vice President of Media Solution Center, Samsung Electronics said," since its launch, Samsung has improved the competitiveness of bada as a truly global platform, with significant success for bada in markets ranging from Eastern Europe to China. We are committed to supporting developers around the world to grow and nurture the bada ecosystem and take part in this success.’
What is unique about this contest is that unlike other app contest, the best applications will be judged by the public themselves. The first ten apps to reach 100,000 downloads will move to the finals.

Developers can enter multiple applications. The contest closes on December 31st at 12 pm.
Samsung recently launched its first Bada 2.0 operated handset Wave 3 in India. Priced at Rs 19,600, the phone packs in a slew of exciting features and comes with great social networking options like Samsung social hub and ChatOn. There is no official word yet on the launch of Samsung's two more Bada 2.0 powered handsets Wave M and Wave Y in India.
