Published on Oct 24, 2011

Motorola has released what they claim to be the world’s slimmest 4G smartphone. At 7.1 mm, the Droid Razr is surely the thinnest handset that we have ever seen. Besides its exceptional form factor, the phone offers a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU. It runs on Android 2.3.5 – Gingerbread OS.

The Motorola Droid Razr is a smartphone version of the Motorola Razr range of phones (a.k.a. Motorazr), which was a rage some years ago. Motorola has gone for a full revamp but kept one feature of the previous handset - its form factor.

The Droid Razr is designed with an attractive form factor. It has a full metallic body with thin edges and a beastly 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, which works like a char while viewing videos, movies or TV on the handset. To protect its sleek body against damage, it has a Gorilla glass coating and Kevlar coating.

In addition to that, the phone comes with a super-powerful 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM along with a 4G LTE chip which empowers the consumer with superb connectivity speeds at all times. Furthermore, the handset offers WLAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for enhanced connectivity.

Motorola has taken a page from the Apple’s book and empowered the Motorola Droid Razr with cloud connectivity and wireless syncing with its Motocast app that maintains a music and video database online along with an iTunes player.

The Motorola Droid Bionic, in addition to that, offers an 8-megapixel primary camera which records 1080p videos and a 1.3-megapixel one for video chatting.

The Motorola Droid Razr offers 16 GB in-built storage along 16 GB external one.

Motorola has also offered a smart actions app, which acts as a high-featured task manager and determines task, calendars etc, along with regulating features such as Bluetooth, battery usage etc.

Another feature of the Droid Razr worth mentioning is its WebTop connectivity, which enables a user to use the phone’s interface on a bigger screen such as a TV or a PC.

For its business users, the phone is embedded with what Motorola claims as Government grade encryption.
The Motorola Droid Razr is powered by a 1780 mAh battery that offers up to 12.5 hours of talktime and 8.5 days of standby time.

Being a high-end phone and that too under Google’s very own Motorola arm, the Droid Bionic is expected to receive an update to the next Android platform – Ice Cream Sandwich OS soon.

Motorola has sent no word about the Indian release date and price of the Motorola Droid Bionic, but we expect it to be priced above 30 K and released in the first quarter f 2012.
