Microsoft seems to be really going all out with the Windows Phone OS. While Andy Lees, president, Windows Phone division, Microsoft was quoted as saying that ‘new OEMs will be coming onboard’ with Windows Phone, now reports are surfacing that Microsoft is in talks with Chinese companies such as Lenovo and Huawei for launching Windows Phone devices for the Chinese market. To add fuel to the fire, images of Lenovo’s new phone codenamed the LePhone S2 has popped up online.
Several leaked photos of the device were showcased at Chinese site CNBeta showing a handset believed to be the Lenovo’s LePhone S2. Currently, not much else is known about the handset. We would like to warn you that no one knows for sure if this is the real device, a fake or an early prototype. But, ignoring that, it seems that the LePhone S2 is for real.

It was also reported that Microsoft was in talks with ZTE, Lenovo and Huawei for its Windows Phone devices as far back as December. Microsoft is choosing to target a market that that has been till now been largely unexplored by Google or Apple. Smart move on the part of Microsoft.
Microsoft has chosen the right strategy to make its Windows Phone more popular. Competing in the market with famed operating systems like Android and iOS, the only chance any new OS will pick up is by sheer numbers. We have already taken a peek at the OS with Windows Phone devices such as the Samsung Omnia W and HTC Radar and we were more than satisfied with what we got.
This, in addition to Microsoft $40 Billion investment in Nokia and Samsung’s ad campaigns is deemed to pay off and help the OS come at par, if not rise above other operating systems.
