iOS 5 update coming to fix battery life in iPhone 4S

In an official statement released by Apple, the company admitted to having found a few bugs  in the software that powers iOS 5 devices including the iPhone 4S. It said that it was working to fix the problem and will make a new and improved update to the iOS 5 available to users in a few weeks time.

The company’s official statement said,” A small number of customers have reported lower-than-expected battery life on iOS 5 devices. We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life, and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.” In fact, the internet is buzzing with rumours that Apple has already sent out iOS 5.0.1 to developers.

Apple didn’t specify what exactly is causing the shortage of battery life in iDevices though. Since the release of the iPhone 4S and the iOS 5, users have been wondering if features like Siri, enhanced notifications or GPS based applications were draining out batteries. 

According to MacRumours, iOS 5.0.1 fixes more than the short battery life of Apple’s newest devices. It supposedly adds Multitasking Gestures for the original iPad and resolves bugs with documents in iCloud. It is also said to beef up security and improve voice recognition for those users in Australia who use the dictation feature.

Since Apple sticks to what is promises, iDevice owners will hopefully not have to wait too long for the update that will fix most of their problems. Till then, the battery life of gadgets can be prolonged by simple measures like switching off unused apps and reducing the brightness of the display screen.
