LG Optimus 3D has finally received a well-deserved update that brings along many new features

Published on Nov 4, 2011

One phone that has been long waiting for an update is the LG Optimus 3D. This high-end phone, endowed with features such as a 3D camera and 3D interface previously used to run on Android 2.2 – Froyo OS.

The Gingerbread update for LG Optimus 3D is about to roll out this month. A video about the update has already been leaked on YouTube.

Android Central reports that the Android 2.3.5 – Gingerbread update would enable the LG Optimus 3D to have 2D and 3D video update, 3D to 2D video conversion along with enhanced bit-rates for 3D videos (a higher bit–rate gives the video more clarity along with speedy buffering for online videos).

Along with that, the update is also stated to improve the 3D interface of the phone along with the media player with better music channels, categories and better audio playback. It would also offer better connectivity speeds with improved HSPA+ connectivity.

But one shouldn’t get too enthusiastic about the update so soon. Currently, it is said to be in a broken form. The update also might prop up issues with your high-speed data or Wi-Fi network.

The LG Optimus 3D is a handset that has a range of high-end features but lacks one thing – a suitable Android update. Price at Rs. 37,000, we believe although the Gingerbread update might seem good, the thing that would really justify the price tag of this handset would be an Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich OS update.

The LG Optimus 3D is set to be unveiled on November 21st, 2011.
