HTC Corp has said that it will pay more attention to emerging markets and next year. With Apple and Samsung surging ahead of it in the smartphone market, the handset maker plans more ventures in the tablet market such as the launch of a new tablet.
HTC CEO Peter Chou explained his plans in detail to Reuters, ”HTC will not give up its ’premier brand’ image. Customers are willing to pay more, that's why we have grown nearly five times in China this year. It shows that customers support our philosophy.”
Currently HTC has just one tablet out – the HTC Flyer, which though a good one, wouldn’t be enough to sustain itself in the tablet market. Chou indicated that HTC has plans for a new tablet in tow,” Tablet is a market we would like to try and test, to see whether we can make ourselves stand out and prevent a me-too product”.
What Chou means is that HTC instead of competing with Apple and Samsung in various ranks, would continue with its strategy of producing high-quality, high-end devices.
HTC is currently one of the largest Android manufacturers and its goodwill is rising in emerging markets.
India also hosted HTC’s first Global launch – the HTC Explorer, indicating that HTC is aiming to strengthen its hold over markets. HTC, like many other smartphone manufacturers is waking up to emerging markets such as India and China which are not only booming, but also constitute more than half of the world’s consumers.
Due to its innovative phones, HTC has risen from an obscure manufacturer to a global brand in a matter of few years.
