Secret panorama mode discovered in iPhone camera

Your iPhone camera might give you a panoramic view, if you are willing to jailbreak it

Ever since the iPhone 4S launch, quite a few iPhone hacks have popped up online. After the recent Siri hack, now, the default camera app on the iPhone has been hacked to provide a secret panoramic view. 

Before proceeding further, we would like to warn you that currently the app isn’t fully baked yet. Moreover, jail breaking an iPhone has become a common phenomenon, but we would still advise you on the contrary. Toying with an expensive gadget such as an iPhone might land you in a soup.

iDownloadblog reports that a hacker going buy the name of Conradev has discovered a hidden panorama mode in Apple’s iOS software.

The camera app was hacked by changing a key value in the iOS SDK. The hack allows the user to capture a panoramic view by snapping photos from left to right, at one go.

Although, currently the reason for this feature being hidden in the iOS software. According to popular belief, Apple might have been either trying to make a better version of the software or maybe it planned to release this feature in the next iOS – iOS 6.

Other hackers have taken this hack even further. Hacker CHPWN, who came up with the famous Siri hack, has come up with a jailbreak tweak that would enable this feature in jailbroken devices and has even given it a name – ‘Firebreak’.

In case you are panorama-crazy, we wouldn’t advise you to jailbreak your iPhone just for the sake of this feature. There are many paid and free Panorama apps available at the App Store. One of the most renowned ones is Panorama 360. Microsoft has come up with a free Photosyth app, while there is also a Pano app available for the price of $1.99 (Around Rs.100).
