The Unbreakable: Panasonic launches near-indestructible Android tablets

Panasonic forays into the Android tablet market with its new line of tough tablets, capable of withstanding all weather conditions

Remeber Bruce Willis in the 2000 psychological thriller drama film, Unbreakable? On a similar note Panasonic recently unveiled its near "indestructible" Android tablets, marking its entry into the Android tablet market space.

Aimed at "mission critical government personnel, highly mobile field forces, SMB's looking for a competitive edge, security conscious IT managers and bottom-line focused CFOs," the Toughpad A1 (10") and Toughpad B1 (7") are no toys.

The Toughpad tablets will be backed by our world class service and support infrastructure, 2 day or less service turn-time, and our customer facing field engineering staff," said Rance M. Poehler, President, Panasonic Solutions Company.

The 10" Toughpad A1 will be the first to hit the markets. The Android 3.2 powered tablet comes equipped with a 10.1" XGA capacitive, multi-touch, daylight-viewable, bright screen to assist users to work unhindered across all lighting conditions. It sports a stylus and active digitizer and also includes a 5-mega pixel rear and a 2-mega pixel front cameras, a 10 hours serviceable battery, a Marvell 1.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor and a 16GB storage capacity which can be extended to 32GB.

Capable of taking a beating under all weather conditions, the tablets are  ideal for those who are exposed to challenging and extreme weather conditions like aviation, construction, field sales and public sector among others. The 7" Toughpad B1 tablet also targets similar market space, but where mobility and portability are more crucial. Both the tablets are aimed at ensuring utmost security and include several technologies like enhanced VPN, dual factor authentication, trusted boot and device management.

Priced at $1299 ( Rs 64,950 approx) the Toughpad A1 will be available in the Spring of 2012 followed by Toughpad B1 later in the year. Both the tablets come with a comprehensive 3-year warranty and going by their powerful specs, they are surely a tough nut to crack.
