It is coming. No, it's not. If the recent reports are to be believed the highly anticipated release of this week, Asus Transformer Prime has been delayed.
The world's first tablet to feature the next-generation quad-core mobile chip was expected to make a debut tomorrow, November 9. However it appears that the Asus Transformer Prime lovers will have to wait till December to get their hands on this stunning, strong and sexy device.
According to Digitimes sources, the delay is attributed to Google who has "agreed to provide assistance to help the machine to natively feature Android 4.0." The source also pointed out that Google had earlier shown very little interest in helping the Taiwan-based PC brand vendors to migrate to the latest Android 4.0 upgrade. This cold shoulder basically prompted the vendors to venture out from Android to Windows 8. However with its recent move, the vendors might again start changing the course and if Microsoft intents on holding its customers it will probably have to offer a more attractive licensing fee.
Successor to its Honeycomb sibling Asus Transformer, Transformer Prime promises to redefine a "new industry standard for how fast a tablet should be." The tablet was recently benchmarked and boy were we impressed.
The stunning tablet breached the 10000 mark barrier in AnTuTu making it twice as powerful as the existing Transformer. Transformer Prime also revealed to be a very strong contender against existing tablets and high end smartphones.
After months of rumors, speculations and leaks, Transformer Prime was first showcased by Johnney Shih at the AsiaD conference.During the conference, Shih also confirmed that the tablet will be stunningly slim at 8.3mm and pack in Android's latest iteration, Ice cream Sandwich along with the powerful Kal-El aka Tegra 3.
Leading a new breed of highly powerful devices, Tegra 3 is expected to provide Prime with over 10 hours of battery life while "enabling impressive fluid graphics".
There are also rumors that the Transformer Prime will be released in US first followed by a global launch.
Also watch out for 2 Android and 2 Windows 8 tablets coming out of the Asus stable early next year. Looks like Asus is all set to grab the tablet market space by storm.
