The Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia launches its Lumia series of handsets Lumia 800 and 710 in India today in Delhi. The twin smartphones are priced as Lumia 800 for Rs 29,000 and Lumia 710 for Rs 19,000.
Nokia, together with the operating-system developing company, Microsoft has trained around 14,000 employees on the particulars of what the company's CEO Stephon Elop calls the brand's "first real Windows phone". The Lumia smartphones run Windows 7.5 aka Mango OS.
The brand is confident that the latest OS, Nokia apps and the Lumia design will assist in attracting customers and could give good competition to Google's Android and Apple's iOS5. These new devices will target youth who are tech savvy and are well aware of the benefits of the handsets, according to Nokia.
While relinquishing that less than 5 per cent of the users actually aware about the OS on their mobile phones, Shivakumar commented, "They want a good phone, a great user experience and fast internet on the device. The new Lumia 800 looks pretty much similar to the Nokia N9, just it runs the latest Windows Phone 7.5 Mango operating system. Also, the Lumia embeds a faster and stronger processor, however still it does not have some of the features that trending these days like front-facing camera and NFC support. Although, it we talk about Windows Phone devices, it doesn’t get better than the Lumia 800.
The most affordable Nokia’s Windows Phone 7.5 Mango running devices, the Lumia 710 offers nice features. The gadget offers advanced smartphone OS and a competitive price. However, there’s no memory expansion possibility through microSD card slot and a front-facing camera.
