Google is busy sending out media invites for an upcoming event. The event scheduled to take place on the November 16 in the U.S., will be streamed live on YouTube.
On the downside, you might not be able to stream tracks freely and directly download from the net.
Jamie Rosenberg, director of Android product management at Google was quoted as saying,” we make very clear in the terms of service that a user agrees to when signing up for the Google Music that the service is only intended for lawfully acquired music, And we will respond to requests from labels who feel their rights have been violated.”
According to speculations, Google is preparing to launch its own music store at the event, whose invites come with a ‘These go to Eleven’ tagline.
Moreover, Google would be launching this music store in collaboration with Universal Music studios. It would offer an online library of MP3 files that would also be available for streaming though the current Google Music Beta service.
While one can use the Google Music Beta to stream music online, the new music store will be a better version of the service, allowing people to freely download, stream and listen to MP3s.
Along with the store feature, Google has also added a Google+ feature to the music store to share and comment on their music, called the +1 feature.
The songs and albums will be priced along the lines of Apple’s iTunes store with songs being priced from $0.99 to $1.99 (Rs. 50-100) and albums between $8.99 and $9.99 (Rs. 450-500).
The Google Music store will also offer a ‘free song of the day’ like Amazon appstore and the iTunes Store.
Although Google is currently launching the appstore in U.S. only, we feel it will make its debut here soon. Google earlier tried to roll out the appstore in collaboration with Sony and Warner studios, but finally had to settle for Universal music as a partner.
Many companies are stepping in to provide online music streaming to make their platforms more attractive. The Google Music news poured in after Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook would also stream music through Spotify and Rdio.
