Engadget recently got its hands on pictures of Lenovo’s newest offering, a tablet that anonymous sources reveal will run on Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich. The machine promises to be fast and powerful since it will most likely be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 T33 processor.  In fact, Lenovo’s device may just be the world’s first ICS tablet.

Though details about the tablet are sketchy, according to Engadget it will sport a 10.1’’ display. Loaded with 2GB of 1,600MHz DDR3 RAM, it will run on a 1.6GHz quad-core processor. Though its weight and dimensions are yet unknown, the tablet will most likely be thinner than Lenovo’s older tablets. Experts are skeptical whether it will be as thin as tablets released by competitors Samsung and Apple, though.

Lenovo’s new tablet has a number of features that gizmo enthusiasts can look forward to. Along with a USB host socket, the device also comes with a rear-facing camera. Of course, the specs of the camera are not yet known. Lenovo will introduce this tablet with a “special fusion-skin body” and a fingerprint scanner that also acts like an optical joystick. These two new features have caught the interest of enthusiasts and skeptics alike.

Rumour has it that the Chinese manufacturer is all set to release its newest tablet by the end of the year, at the heart of the festive season. Whether it will succeed in giving the competition a run for its money depends on its yet unknown specs. As of now, backed by the Tegra 3 processor and the ICS OS, it sure looks like a force to reckon with.
