At the launch of the Lumia 800 in Russia, Nokia VP Eric Bertman announced that the company will be releasing something ‘even better’ than the N8 in the coming year. GSMarena got their hands on a video of Bertman speaking at the launch. Enthusiasts and critics alike are guessing the new device will be the successor to the N8, a more spruced up, powerful device. Bertman did not reveal any other details though.
Bertman’s comment has the world wondering which operating system Nokia’s new device will be based on. Though people are talking about Symbian, the Windows Phone platform will probably be best suited for the handset, given Nokia and Microsoft’s partnership for their latest smartphones. As the successor to the N8, the phone will most likely be a high-end device with special focus on its camera.
In fact, it looks like Nokia’s new device will feature a large high resolution screen and a camera with higher MP. HD video recording, zoom and a powerful flash can be expected on the phone as well. All in all, Nokia new smartphone will most probably feature a bigger, brighter screen with sharper images and high resolution video recording. More details are sure to emerge in the near future.
Given Nokia’s progress in the past, a smart device that follows up where the N8 and the Lumia 800 left off is just what it needs to consolidate its position in the mobile market. If Nokia does come up with such a device in the near future, competitors will have to start taking notice of the manufacturer once again and 2012 will turn out to be a very good year for it indeed.
