Apple iPad 2: Is it really worth the moolah?

According to a report in The Korean Times, an industry source revealed Apple’s plans for 2012. The company is apparently in the midst of striking a billion Dollar deal with LG for development work on the displays of Apple’s future phones and tablets.

The source says that Apple’s next iPhone will feature a 4’’ screen and Apple will also release a smaller tablet with a 7.35’’ display in the near future. According to the source, LCD displays offer value for money, thus the Retina display is here to stay for some time to come.

IDG published a translation of what the source, apparently an LG executive told Korean Times. He said, “Next year’s iPhone to feature a 4’’ display by LG Display, half an inch larger than the 3.5’’ display and Retina display resolution will remain unchanged because LCD is currently being regarded as the right solution to offer value with better cost cuts.”

He went on to say that the next few days will see a meeting between Apple and LG Display where the firms will discuss Apple’s plans to work on a 7.35’’ tablet, due for release in the near future.

Apple, as always, is tight lipped about its future plans and the world has to rely on hear say and guess at what surprises the firm has in store for it. With news of two new devices brewing, Apple’s competitors are on the lookout for some serious competition headed their way. As for Apple fans, they are waiting with baited breath for the nest best thing.
