My Nokia Blog came across Nokia’s new promo video and discovered that the phone used in the film was a new model not seen before. Since the company has used new concept phones in previous videos to showcase NFC, experts are guessing that its following the same pattern here.
The mystery phone in the video looks like a smarter, thinner and sleeker version of the Nokia 700. The feature that stands out most about the new device is its screen size. On the video the screen seems to measure 4’’, slightly larger than the Lumia’s 3.7’’ screen. Of course, this phone is powered by the Windows Phone operating system.
Another interesting feature on the phone is that of the capacitive WP buttons. These buttons disappear when the screen is switched off. Smartphone enthusiasts are guessing that the mystery device may well be the Nokia Ace or the Nokia 900.
The presence of the promo video online has got Nokia fans excited and the rumour mills spinning. Nokia, on their part, have decided to act fast and do some damage control. The Finnish manufacturer has now removed the video which was earlier put up on the Nokia Developer YouTube channel.
From the promo video, it looks like Nokia may well be on its way to developing another smartphone to join the ranks of the recently released Lumia 800. A continuing stream of smart devices is what both Nokia and Microsoft need in order to take on the stiff competition they face in the mobile market. If things work out well, 2012 may see them become market leaders once again.
