Nokia's recently launched Windows powered handset, Nokia Lumia 800 is creating quite a wave. It was awarded the Mobile of the Year award by the popular british magazine What Mobile recently.

According to the editor of the magazine Richard Melville, "it’s no secret that Nokia makes great phones but with a new Windows Phone Mango operating system, great design and a competitive price, the Lumia 800 feels like real innovation for smartphones and, importantly, one that’s cool enough to attract everyone from gadget geeks to casual, fashion conscious phone users.”

Interestingly this award-winning phone has just started shipping in UK, but "has already won universal plaudits from phone fans, press and industry professionals", according to conversations by Nokia.

Nokia's Lumia 800 recently arrived in India. Priced at Rs 29,000,  Lumia 800 bears close resemblance to the Nokia N9. Integrated with a strong processor and all "must have" features like front-facing camera and NFC support, Lumia 800 targets youth and tech savvy Indian population. Equipped with a clear black 3.7-inch impressive touchscreen display, supporting 480 x 800 pixels resolution, the smartphone sports a 8-megapixel primary camera and Carl Zeiss optics lens for clear images.

A powerful 1.4 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 720p HD video recording capabilities are some of its core strengths. Branded as the "first real Windows phone" by CEO Stephon Elop, the Finnish giant along with Microsoft has trained around 14,000 employees on the software.

With the Lumia 800 creating a stir in the mobile market, could it be that Nokia and Microsoft have finally found their "back to recovery" product. Well, we will soon find out.

Apart from Nokia Lumia 800, the company also launched Nokia 710, another Windows powered phones priced at Rs 19,000 in India recently.
