Processor and OS: Ave runs on a 1.2 GHz processor and is powered by Android’s Gingerbread OS. It supports memory up to 8GB which is expandable with a MicroSD card to 32GB. Aakash on the other hand uses an ARM 11 processor and runs on the Android 2.2 OS. It has 256 MB of RAM and its memory can be expanded with a MicroSD card to 32GB as well.
Connectivity and Content: Ave supports Wi-Fi, 3G and GSM connectivity. Aakash offers Wi-Fi and GPRS support. For providing content it is going to use Getjar instead of Android Market. The advantage of Aakash is that it doubles over as a phone.
Screen and Imagery: Ave is extremely light weight at just 360gms. It has a 7’’ screen and a 1.3MP front facing camera. The tablet supports 1080p full HD playback and its battery lasts up to 6 hours. Aakash also sports a 7’’ screen and offers HD quality video.
Price: Ave is all set to retail at Rs. 12,999/-, a good 10,000 bucks more than Aakash which is available for Rs. 2,999/-. The difference in price of course reflects the difference in features.
If you are keen to go in for a high end tablet with a uniquely made in India feel, Ave is the device for you. If you want a tablet with basic features and don’t want to spend on a bomb on it, Aakash will serve you well. In terms of availability and after sales service, Aakash has an advantage.
