Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, the Asus Transformer 2 took the tablet market with storm. While the highly anticipated quad core tablet was expected to launch with a Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) onboard, it was Honeycomb that it finally arrived with.

With the promise from Asus executive Jonney Shih to bring the ICS to the Transformer Prime soon, we couldn't be more excited. However it appears that while Asus has all the intentions to prep the device with ICS, it will be pushed to the back-burners for sometime.

However interestingly we see developers experimenting with the software on the original grand master, Asus Eee Pad Transformer. The video below shows the ICS running on the honeycomb powered Asus Eee Pad Transformer. According to the Phandroid folks while the "sound doesn’t work and it’s rather slow and buggy",  "to have it up with most radios working is still impressive, though, and we’re excited to see how much better it can get."

Well this is a start. With Transformer Prime expected to ship in next month, we hope the ICS update to follow soon.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 was released in India recently. Priced at Rs 31,499, the Android 3.0 powered device was announced at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas along with the ASUS Eee Pad Slider and ASUS Eee Pad MeMO. Transformer sports a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 10.1 WXGA screen, a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front.

The USP of the Transformer is that it comes with a  Dockable Keyboard, which converts the tablet into notebook in seconds. Transformer also comes equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack, two USB ports, a built-in SD Card reader for easy file sharing and expanding storage capacity and a slew of preloaded apps.

Like its predecessor we hope to see the Asus Transformer Prime greeted with similar love in India on its arrival next year.
