LG is the latest smartphone manufacturer to jump on the ICS wagon. It has released an official list of devices that it is introducing the Android 4.0 update on. This initial list includes phones of the Optimus line, the series to which LG is bringing the ICS update first.
As of now, the Optimus 2X, Optimus 3D, Optimus LTE and Optimus Black are waiting to get their operating systems revamped. LG has encouraged fans to keep a look out on its Facebook page for the ICS roll out schedule. Any further devices to get the Android 4.0 update will also be mentioned on the company’s Facebook feed.
LG’s announcement is no surprise. In fact, LG loyalists have been wondering when the ICS update would make its way to the company’s devices, especially since the operating system’s source code was released a few days ago. What is surprising however is that a number of smartphone models in the Optimus line have not been listed for the update. Gadget enthusiasts the world over are hoping that the G2X and the Thrill 4G make LG’s list too.
LG, along with manufacturers including Samsung, ASUS, Motorola, Acer and HTC are racing to make ICS available on their devices in early 2012, as they had initially promised when the operating system was released.
One of the smartest operating systems in the market today, Android’s ICS offers a sophisticated user interface and brings the ease of the Honeycomb tablet to the smartphone. Multitasking and social networking have been given a facelift and made more fun on the ICS. With LG’s new announcement and others soon to follow, 2012 sure looks like the year of the Android 4.0 operating system.
