MyNokiaBlog got its hands on the screenshots of the PR 1.2 update for Nokia’s N9 that were leaked on phonesfera. The update gives the MeeGo OS a facelift while some N9 users are still waiting to receive the PR 1.1 update that was officially released a few days ago.
The most noticeable feature on the PR 1.2 is the improved functioning of the N9’s camera. Controls like the camera’s flash are now placed on the screen so that users no longer have to access them by tapping on menus. Even the video recording mode has a separate icon for the LED flash. Another exciting feature is that of ‘face recognition’ that has been introduced in the gallery app. With this feature, the phone saves names to photos automatically. ‘Insert face’ is another fun feature that can be used while displaying an image on the phone.
Nokia has made the UI on the PR 1.2 easier to navigate. The icon buttons look stylish and user friendly. Nokia has also added a button to manage applications easily. The display setting has a new colour profile too, making the screen brighter and more beautiful.
The PR 1.2 update has given the N9 and Nokia’s MeeGo a needed shot in the arm. With exciting new features that promise an ease of use, PR 1.2 has put the company and the OS on a platform where it can compete with leading players of the market including Android, Windows Phone and Apple’s iOS, at least for the time being.
