Some of you might recall seeing some leaked pictures of the upcoming Lenovo Windows Phone device. Well, Lenovo announced this device yesterday which is now known as the LePhone S2 which pretty much confirms the existence of the new WP device.
The Lenovo LePhone S2 is a Android powered device and features a 3.8-inch display with a single core 1.4 GHz processor and 8-mega pixel camera. The phone will be made available in 8 and 16GB variants with no card slot.
The LePhone S2 runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread out of the box. Also, it is a WCDMA device so don't expect it to be available unlocked. The handset broke cover in Beijing along with a bunch of other device like the LePad S2005 and others. Stay tuned for more on the new range of Lenovo handsets.
The Product Manager of Lenovo, Shisunny speaking to the Chinese blog iMobile has mentioned that the handset will break cover during the second half of 2012 and that the company has planned for a great launch.
We however fear that by the second half of 2012, the market will be crowded by Windows Phone 7.5 handsets. Unless these manufacturers bring something unique or new to the table, it will be very hard to get attention from the public.
With manufacturers like Lenovo and others making their way to the smartphone market, it is evident that the competition is that much higher.
