Lenovo held an event in Beijing where it’s handsets galore. Well, the company has announced yet another handset today in the form of the Lenovo LePhone K2. It seems like the LePhone K2 is the better of the lot (perhaps Lenovo was keeping the best one for the last).
This handset is no short of a beast which is quite clear when we look at the specs sheet. Before we go into the specs of the device, let’s look into what Lenovo has launched so far. Well, there was the LePad S2005 (also known as IdeaTab S2005) which is a 5 inch tablet/smartphone and the LePhone S760 as well as the LePhone S2. To be quite frank, these smartphones weren’t quite appealing. But what we have now is more of a competitor to the current lot of dual core droids like the Sensation XE, Galaxy S II, Motorola Razr etc.
The LePhone K2 is a well-crafted Android device much like what we see in the market today with a decent 4.3 inch IPS display. Though the resolution of the display hasn’t been mentioned yet, it looks a lot like qHD (rough estimate). Also on board is a 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 chipset. On the camera front, Lenovo has included an 8MP sensor capable of recording 1080p videos.
The phone comes with 1GB of internal storage as well as 1GB or RAM for your apps and what not. Out of the box, the LePhone K2 will run on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. There is no info available on the launch of the handset, but given that Lenovo wants to make a mark in the market, we don’t think they would want to delay the launch any further.
The Chinese markets would most probably be the first to get the handset. Lenovo surprisingly, hasn’t provided pricing details either. It seems like Lenovo will be adding a few other phones to the LePhone line up in the coming days. We’ll be looking forward to that.
