Those in Taiwan will get their hands on the Transformer Prime a week before the rest of the world. The tablet is set to release in Taiwan on December 1 and in the US on December 8. According to Asus, European countries will be able to get their hands on the tablet in January 2012. The exact launch dates for these countries will be announced later.
Asus’s Eee Pad has been up for pre-orders for some now, in both Champagne Gold and Amethyst Gray variants. The 32GB version of the tablet is on sale for $499 and the 64GB version is available for $599. The tablet’s battery / keyboard dock is retailing at $149.
The quad-core tablet will initially run on the Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS but will get the ICS update in the next few months. A strong Tegra 3 processor and a powerful operating system set Asus’s latest offering apart from its peers in the tablet market. The device is equipped with a 10.1’’ screen and two cameras, a rear facing 8MP one and a front facing 1.2MP one.
The Transformer Prime is a sleek machine, 8.3mm thin and weighing 586 gm. The Super IPS + LCD display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass and offers a resolution of 1280 x 800p while the Sonic Master technology improves the tablet’s audio output.
Asus is all set to take the tablet market by storm with the impressive specs of its Eee Pad Transformer Prime. It will be interesting to see how well the device is received by gizmo enthusiasts and how well it compares to similar devices offered by Apple and Samsung. The world doesn’t have to wait too long to find out, December 8 is just around the corner.
