Asus confirms December 19 as Transformer Prime launch date

The company confirmed that Tegra 3 powered Asus Transformer Prime will release on December 19. The highly anticipated quad-core tablet has a new promo video showcasing the slew of features it fits in its 8.3mm slim built

Is it December 8, 9 or 19? The official launch date for the highly anticipated Tegra 3 and Android 3.2 Honeycomb (upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) powered tablet has been oscillating back and forth since the last few days.

Putting all rumors to rest, Asus has finally confirmed that the quad-core tablet will hit stores and online on December 19. The reviews for the super sexy and stunning device have been populating the internet for the past few weeks. The final verdict - "Transformer Prime is the Android tablet we’ve all been waiting for."

A great walk-through of Transformer Prime video gives us a closer look at the Android tablet which sports a metallic spun finish design. Packed inside its 8.3mm slim built is a Quad-core CPU for excellent multitasking, 1080p HD video playback and 3D games.

Highly portable at 586g, the device packs in a full qwerty keyboard with touchpad and USB port. It also extends the battery to 18 hours when combined with the mobile dock.

Talking about the display, its ultra-wide 178° viewing angle and ultra bright Super IPS+ panel are absolute winners. Equipped with a 10.1’’ screen and 1280 x 800p resolution, the Transformer Prime is protected by the scratch resistant Gorilla Glass.

Moving on to the camera the device straps in an impressive 8-mega pixel rear camera with LED flash, back-illuminated CMOS sensor and a 1.3-mega pixel front facing camera. Preloaded with 500,000 downloadable applications on the Android Market, the Transformer Prime is backed by a 32GB / 64GB of internal storage.
