The Times of India’s Windows Phone app was downloaded and used by devices that registered with the source as the much talked about Nokia Lumia 900 and Nokia Champagne. The download confirms the existence, development and testing of the handsets. Though both the phones were shown running the Windows Phone OS, the version they were sporting is new. It read WP - 7.10.8725, where WP 7.1 is understood as the internal version of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Experts suspect this might just be the next generation Windows Phone Tango.
The Lumia 900 is rumoured to be Nokia’s next flagship WP powered smartphone. It is said to have a 4.3’’ ClearBlack AMOLED display. Powered by a 1.4GHz single-core processor, it offers 1GB of RAM. HSPA+ data speeds are expected from the phone which most likely sports an 8MP rear-facing camera. What is not yet known however is if the phone carries a front facing camera as well. It is also not yet clear whether it offers 16GB or 32GB of internal space.
On the other hand, the Nokia Champagne is shrouded in mystery, the only fact rumoured about it being that it most likely runs on WP Tango. Of course, if its OS is an updated one, the phone should take Nokia to the next level of smartphone devices with some fancy new features.
Nokia’s newest offerings will most likely hit the mobile market early next year. With testing underway, new and improved features of the phones are sure to leak all over the internet. As always, the world is waiting to see what Nokia and Microsoft have up their sleeves in 2012.
