Where smartphone giants like Samsung and Sony Ericsson gave signaled of launching Android 4.0 laced smartphones not before 2012, it seems the Chinese budget device manufacturer, Huawei, has stolen the glory.
Huawei Honor (U8860) ,has become the first non-Google manufacturer ready to launch Ice Cream Sandwich phone. The 4-inch screen smartphone with the update is although in Beta state, which means there is a possibility for some inconvenience to the users. Moreover, the mention of it being ‘the first ICS update phone’ will get its firm shape only when the update get over its beta stage.
The source code for the 148MB size ice Cream Sandwich can be found on the manufacturer’s site. But in case the user feels unsatisfied with the Android, 4.0 he/ she can immediately go back to the hot and crispy Gingerbread. For this Huawei has provided Gingerbread in its 4GB ROM.
The Huawei smartphone with ICS update will be in the market in a week’s time. Recently Huawei also released Gingerbread updates for its Ideos X U880 and U880 pro. However, it cannot be denied that Huawei’s decision of launching an ICS, Beta device is smart, this will draw attention and sales for Honor this winter.
