New pictures give a clearer and closer look at the highly anticipated SE Xperia Arc HD

Gsmarena get their hands on some beautiful snapshots of the yet unreleased Nozomi smartphone. A tipster sent in the bunch of photos that confirm most of the rumours the tech world has been hearing about Sony Ericsson’s latest device.

The Nozomi, also known as the Xperia Arc HD, runs on the Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS. Of course, it will most likely get upgraded to the ICS in due course. The phone sports a 4.3’’ HD LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720p. Nozomi’s best feature, its 12MP camera, promises FullHD video capture as well. The leaked pictures show off an HDMI port as well, through which users will be able to transfer content from the smartphone on to their HDTVs.

The handset will most likely be powered by a Snapdragon processor. 1.5 GHz Scorpion cores and an Adreno GPU will give the device a boost of energy. One feature on the Xperia Arc S is disappointing though. From the pictures, it looks like the device lacks the provision of a MicroSD card slot. The expansion of the phone’s memory then becomes a problem. On the other hand, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB / 32 GB of onboard storage would ideally suffice for an average smartphone user.

Another surprise about the Nozomi is its battery. It seems like the phone runs on a non-user-removable battery. That might be an issue for some users, but hopefully Sony Ericsson will offer a good after-sales service to solve any battery problems that might arise.

These new, detailed pictures of the Xperia Arc S have rekindled the market’s interest in Sony Ericsson and everything that it has to offer. It will be interesting to see how well Nozomi is received at the CEC early next year, where it is rumoured to release.
