Vodafone unveils Android powered Vodafone SMART for Rs 4995

In the days of recession where desires are much more than your salary check the telecommunication giant has launched Vodafone SMART. Priced at just Rs 4,995 the phone packs in all smart features and no doubt it has been named Vodafone SMART. 

Equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, Vodafone SMART runs on Android 2.2.1 operating system but there is no information about it being upgradable. The SMART phone sports a 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen. It also includes 2- megapixel camera that can be used for video recording as well. The memory of this SMART device is expandable up to 32GB.

Sandeep Sibal, country manager and vice president, Qualcomm India and South Asia said, “Globally, smartphones have become a versatile tool for mobile computing, communications and multimedia entertainment. This device fully uses Vodafone’s high-speed 3G HSPA network to cater to increasing demand in India for a compelling ‘Internet on-the-go’ experience”.

Vodafone SMART comes with a two year warranty and for Vodafone users planning to buy this SMART phone; they have a smart deal waiting. According to the Telco press release "Vodafone subscribers will also enjoy a special introductory limited period offer of Double Data Benefit on their 3G subscription." 

According to Kumar Ramanathan, chief marketing officer, Vodafone India, "Vodafone Smart is one smartphone that is sure to delight our young audience with its stylish looks, smart features, host of exciting apps and 3G connectivity at an exciting, affordable price."

The Vodafone SMART also includes various connectivity options like Bluetooth2.1, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi tethering, Edge and A-GPS. The device also includes a 3.5mm jack for FM stereo, MP3, MP4/3GP playback support. Besides all this it includes accelerometer, push mail, proximity and compass sensors. The phone is available in all Vodafone stores and leading outlets.
