Microsoft has offered free phones to Android users attacked by malware

Published on Dec 13, 2011

There’s good news for those Android users who are facing malware attacks on their phones. Microsoft is cashing in on Google’s misfortune and offering free WP 7 handsets to those users who share the best malware stories. Even though 22 titles in the Android Market were recently recognized as malicious malware and removed, the damage to users had already been done. Android loyalists have been facing problems like viruses and trojans on their smartphones.

Microsoft is hoping that a tweet from its officer Ben Rudolph will help to ease the pain. Phonearena found that Rudolph recently tweeted, “#Droidrage!! Share your android malware story and you could win a #windows phone upgrade.” This might just be the perfect time for those frustrated with Android to try something new in the form of Windows Phone.

Another official statement from Microsoft is keeping the company in the media limelight. Rumours about NFC support for Windows Phone have been doing the rounds in the tech world for a while and an officer from Microsoft decided to put an end to all the hearsay. An official spokesperson from the tech giant said, “While NFC is not currently supported on Windows Phone 7.5, it is coming. We expect NFC-enabled Windows Phone devices to ship within the next year.”

Things are looking up for Microsoft these days. With its PR strategy in place, Microsoft is stepping in as the good guy in Android’s hour of need. At the same time, it is promising NFC-enabled smart devices to users next year. It looks like 2012 is going to be a very fruitful year for Microsoft indeed.
