Amazon’s Kindle Fire is one of the most popular e-book readers cum tablet in its segment and is sure to be welcomed by fans in India. Originally priced at Rs. 16,000, online retailer Tradus is selling it at a discounted rate of Rs. 13,900, with free shipping thrown in as well. It is listed on the seller’s website under ‘imported products’. In comparison, the tablet is retailing in the US for $ 199/-, a little over Rs. 10,000.

The Kindle Fire has a 7’’ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1024 x 600p. It weighs in at 500 gm, is powered by a dual-core processor and runs on Android 2.3. Gingerbread. Amazon’s Silk web browser makes surfing the internet on the tablet quick and easy. Kindle Fire is a device of choice for many who use it primarily as an e-book reader, to access books and comics, surf the internet and watch movies and shows.

In fact, Amazon’s tablet is a sure shot winner in the content department. With Amazon’s enormous collection of books, comics and videos, a Kindle Fire user will always be spoilt for choice.

The tablet is not without fault though. It comes equipped with a RAM of just 512MB and an internal storage of only 8GB. That’s not enough for those who would like to use the tablet primarily for viewing videos. Also, the Kindle Fire is cloud based, increasing a user’s dependency on Wi-Fi and data networks.

Amazon’s tablet and e-book reader is a device designed for entertainment. It is the perfect choice for those who are hooked on to Amazon’s content and don’t mind the lack of memory on the tablet. If you do decide to go ahead and buy it, just remember to run a check on that all-important warranty and after-sales service.
