The official ICS test build for Samsung’s Galaxy S II has leaked online and can be downloaded freely

The popular Samsung Galaxy S II just got even cooler. The only that it lacked was the ICS OS, which it’s finally got its hands on. The official test build of the OS for the smartphone was recently leaked and can be easily accessed online.

Sammobile got the build from their sources and shared it with the tech world. Androidos came across a video featuring the Galaxy S II running on the ICS OS that has been uploaded on YouTube. The first thing one notices in the video is that the TouchWiz launcher has not been replaced by the ICS UI. The handset does show off other elements of the Android 4.0 operating system though.  Features like calling, messaging, surfing the internet etc work as usual with the new OS. The phone does reboot randomly though, as ICS hasn’t completely settled in.

Of course, it not advisable for users who like to play safe with their devices to download the test onto their phones. For those who do go in for the ICS build, it is important to back up all of the phones data before making the shift.

As is the case with all test builds, this one is not perfect and houses more a few bugs that need tending to. From the video, it is clear that ICS is working fairly well on the handset and once smaller issues are taken care of, the transition to the OS should be an easy one. With all the fancy features that the Galaxy S II holds, it will probably continue to be one of the most desirable devices in 2012, especially when it’s fully loaded with the ICS update.
