1. iPhone 4S: Apple’s latest smartphone took the tech market by storm. Siri, its voice activated personal assistant, is still creating waves among users months after its release.

The iPhone 4S also features an 8-Megapixel camera, iOS 5, AirPlay-support as well as Apple's iCloud. What more could you want?

2. Galaxy Nexus: Samsung’s answer to Apple’s iPhone, the Galaxy Nexus is the first smartphone to come pre-installed with the incredible Android 4.0 OS.

Powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Cortex A9 processor, the Galaxy Nexus has some great internal spec and one of the best 720p – Super AMOLED HD – displays we've seen to date. NFC is also built in and we love the way the device looks.

3. Droid Razr: Motorola’s new flagship smartphone is the thinnest handset in the world. It's made from Kevlar material and uses a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display.

The device runs on Android 2.3.5 and can work with LTE technology. Powered by a dual core 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4, this phone will get even cooler next year when it receives the ICS update.

4. iPad 2: Apple revolutionised the tech world when it first introduced the iPad. The iPad 2 is even better, offering the best in entertainment, spec, hardware and functionality.

There are only few who can compete with Apple’s App Store. The best part about Apple's iPad 2 is that it is also 3G compatible, unlike a lot of the competition.

5. Transformer Prime: The tablet from the house of ASUS promises to take the tech market to new heights.

The world’s first quad core Tegra 3 tablet ships with Android’s Honeycomb OS but is slated to get its ICS upgrade soon.

Light and portable, the tablet offers a resolution of 1280x800 on its 10-inch screen. The best part about the Transformer Prime is its keyboard dock, making it the perfect machine for both work and fun.

2011 saw some path breaking technology unleashed. We really can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for us – and no, we don't mean the apocalypse either!
