Nokia launched its first proper assalt on the Indian markets today, with the release of its Windows Phone 7-powered Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710.

There's a lot of expectation surrounding these handsets, especially since Microsoft and Nokia have so much riding on their partnership.

Nokia has taken to the media and TV adverts to communicate what its Windows Phone 7-powered Lumia Series is all about. The advertisement campaign is called The Amazing Everyday. Nokia is also giving away 'experiences' to consumers in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, which includes a luxurious helicopter ride, a dance performance in Mumbai, and access to an exclusive premiere with Sannia Mirza in New Delhi, as well as toll exemption for more than 15000 cars on the DND Freeway.

'It’s a game changer for us, we have redefined what we mean to consumers,' said Nokia India Marketing Director, Viral Oza.

Not only this but Nokia is planning to paint Jet airways, taxis and buses in Lumia colours. It has trained 12,500 people all over India to give the best possible services to its customers, following the launch of the device and it is also working with thousands of developers to build applications for Microsoft's Windows Marketplace.

Let’s take a brief look on the tech-specs of the Nokia handsets:

Both the Nokia Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 are packed with identical 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Again they run on the same iteration of Windows Phone 7. That's Mango by the way. And they both have identical screen size of 3.7-inch with 480x 800 pixel resolution but differ in the display type. The Lumia 710 uses a TFT capacitive touch screen whereas the Lumia 800 is rocking Samsung's AMOLED display technology.

The Lumia 800 uses a 8-megapixel camera and the Lumia 710 uses a 5-megapixel camera. The build quality of the high-end Lumia 800 is also a lot better than the Lumia 710, which is a more budget-oriented handset.

Nokia Lumia 710 has been price at Rs. 18,999 and Nokia Lumia 800 has been priced at Rs. 29,999.
