New Android 4.0.1 custom ROM leaks for Galaxy S II bringing faster ROM

Published on Dec 19, 2011

Smartphone experts have worked on the Android 4.0.1 ROM released last week for the Galaxy S II and made it faster and better. The ROM is now unofficially available online at Sammobile. Of course, installing the new ROM on the Galaxy S II handset will involve a jailbreak, among other things, and shouldn’t be attempted by inexperienced users.

Sammobile claims the update is similar to the ROM released last week. Though the second version of the Android 4.0.1 ROM is an improvement on the first, it is not yet totally free of bugs. Some changes on the system are still due and users can expect a new version to release sometime in the near future.

According to Sammobile, “This rom still a CUSTOM build by Samsung and still with TW.” Apparently, experts created this particular firmware recently, on December 8. Sammobile has published a statement on its webpage warning users, “As you all may know we only offer stock ROMs so you will not find this firmware on our usual firmware page.”

Even though the Android 4.0.1 ROM isn’t perfect yet, it is a sure sign of things to come. It looks like very soon, the Samsung Galaxy S II will officially get its Ice Cream Sandwich update and other devices from the house of Samsung are sure to follow the suit.

Of course, competing brands will not be left behind and offer updates of their own in due course. The year 2012 sure seems like the year of the Ice Cream Sandwich.
