Motorola’s newest smartphone, DROID 4 is likely to release soon, given that its promo page is almost ready. Pocketnow who recently came across the DROID 4 on DroidDoes website found the site to be inactive, probably prepping itself for the release.
The DROID 4 is powered by Android’s Gingerbread 2.3.5 operating system and offers LTE connectivity. Coming 6 months after the DROID 3, it is sleeker than its predecessor. It is a powerful device, supported by a 1.2GHz dual core processor and a 1GB DDR2 RAM. The DROID 4 runs on a 1785 mAh battery and sports a 4’’ qHD display.
The DroidDoes site markets the phone well, citing its ‘full QWERTY LED edge-lit keys’ that ‘ensure high speed typing in low light on the 5 row, slide out keyboard with a dedicated number row’. Of course, the phone offers support for MOTOCAST as well.
The DROID 4 is almost completely water proof, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and a water repellent nanotechnology coating. The phone comes with two cameras, a rear facing 8- mega pixel camera capable of HD video recording, and a front facing camera.
The DROID 4 is apparently the thinnest 4G LTE QWERTY with dimensions of 2.8 x 5.0 x 5.0’’ and a weight of 6.31 oz. It sports an internal memory of 16GB which is expandable up to 32GB through a microSD card.
Motorola’s newest offering seems a good buy, especially for those who prefer a QWERTY keypad. The price of the device is yet unknown, as its availability in other countries, but such details should be out soon. With the competition in the smartphone market heating up every day, it is likely that Motorola will release the phone worldwide sooner than later.
