700,000 Android activations every 24 hours

Google's Android is fast-becoming a world beater with 700,000 unit activations every day. 

Google's vice president confirmed the news via Google+ and Twitter, saying:

'There are now over 700,000 Android devices activated every day.'

He added: 'for those wondering, we count each device only once (i.e. we don't count re-sold devices), and 'activations' means you go into a store, buy a device, put it on the network by subscribing to a wireless service.'

In June, Andy Rubin – the head of Android – reported that the number of activations each day for android devices was 500,000. In July the number rose to staggering 550,000. But now it has turned into 700,000 units every 24hours, which is pretty staggering.

And it's done all this in just five short years. 

Ice Cream Sandwich is already here and next comes Jelly Bean, which is expected to be Google's next game changer.

Google has been growing consistently, according to a report from NPD Group, and now enjoys 53 percent of market share. Apple stands at 29 percent.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook says that cumulative iOS activations stand at 250,000 per day.
 
Interestingly according to IDC reports, Apple is maintaining a sizeable lead in the tablet market with 61.5 percent of the arket.

However predictions are being made that Apple will soon loose its tablet glory to the Amazon Kindle Fire.
