Sony Ericsson has released its roadmap for the Android 4.0 update for its devices. The company’s 2011 Xperia devices will be the first in que to receive the much sought after Ice Cream Sandwich update.
The lineup includes Xperia Arc S, the Xperia Neo V and the Xperia Ray. The update will also be rolled out to the Xperia Arc, the Xperia PLAY, the Xperia Neo, the Xperia Mini, the Xperia Mini Pro, the Xperia Pro, the Xperia Active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman as well.
Sony Ericsson has promised its customers that they will receive an upgrade notification on their devices when it is ready for download.
Users can keep a look out for news on the upgrade on Sony Ericsson’s official website as well.
The Android 4.0 operating system is the most sophisticated iteration of Android yet. With Sony Ericsson moving most of its popular devices to the platform, it will be able to compete with other leading players like Apple and Samsung.
This is a much needed advantage for Sony, especially since it is going to start rebranding its products without the Ericsson name by the middle of next year.
