Nokia has confirmed that a whole load of older-generation handsets will be getting updated to Symbian Belle in Q1 of 2012.
The handsets lined up for the planned update include the Nokia N8, E7, E6, X7, C6-01, C7 and Oro. These phones are currently running on Symbian Anna.
According to Nokia, users will be able to download the update on their devices as soon as it is ready. In fact, the C7, the C6-01 and the N8 will soon start shipping preloaded with the Belle update.
The competition between the players is heating up as the countdown to 2012 begins. The New Year is sure to see a number of new and improved gadgets and operating systems.
Though the Symbian platform was unable to compete with iOS and Android head to head, Belle does offer some stiff competition to the leading market players.
Nokia has improved the home screen, menu, apps and widgets inside Belle. Widgets come in five different sizes, and each widget can be edited and handled independently with ease.
The addition of a pull down status bar is another convenient feature of Symbian Belle, mirroring the way things are done in Android and iOS.
