Details regarding the Sony Ericsson Pepper abound online, ahead of CES 2012 launch.
We have been picking up bread crumbs on the upcoming Sony Ericsson offerings and boy are we impressed. Over this month we have seen the leaked snapshots of gorgeous Nozomi aka Xperia Arc HD and the powerful Nyphon LT22 powered by a 1GHz dual-core U8500 chipset built by ST-Ericsson.
The latest smartphone to set your tongues wagging is touted as Pepper, and it's the successor to Sony Ericsson Neo V.
This mid range smartphone sports a 3.7-inch reality display with FWVGA (480 x 854) resolution and a 1GHz dual-core chipset. Strapped to the back is a 5-mega pixel camera, capable of 720p HD video recording.
Expected to house a 1320mAh battery, the smartphone will be launched on Android Gingerbread.
The Sony Ericsson Pepper will be bound for a Android 4.0 update next year, meeting up with 2011 Xperia range devices also scheduled for a ICS update.
The Xperia Blog sources inform that Sony Ericsson MT27i Pepper, "will be using a ST-Ericsson chipset according to the EXIF data from the first photo sample from the device."
Going by this specification, it seems that the Pepper will bear close resemblance to Nyphon LT22. While the two smartphones share the same 1GHz dual-core specification, Nyphon shows off great camera capabilities with a 8-mega pixel Exmor R camera and a 4-inch qHD display.
The Sony Ericsson MT27i Pepper on the other side will strike a note with SE lovers who want a Nypon knock off at budget price.
A new range of Xperia handsets will be unveiled at the CES on January 9, 2012 in all categories - superphone, high end, mid-range and entry level.
While we expect to see Sony Ericsson LT28 Aoba (sporting a whopping 13-mega pixel camera) in the super-high end range, Sony Ericsson LT26i Nozomi, Sony Ericsson 'Pepper' and Sony Ericsson ST21i “Tapioca” will be seen in the other categories.
