Apple poised to launch two new iPad devices at iWorld in January
Published on Dec 29, 2011
After claiming that the much awaited iPad 3 will hit markets in February, sources are now telling Digitimes that Apple is in fact readying two different versions of the next iPad, scheduled to release as early as next month. According to reports, the new models of the iPad will launch at iWorld, due to be held on January 26, 2012. Though it is yet unknown what these versions will be called, one thing is certain, they will be more sophisticated than the iPad 2.
Apple is reportedly gearing up for the official launch of two new iPad devices – a cheaper version and a new high-end device.
Apple is apparently working on a mid-range and a high-end device, which, along with the iPad 2, it is hoping will completely take over the tablet market.
It was initially reported that the new models of the iPad would feature a smaller screen of 7.85-inches. But according to the most recent reports, this isn't the case and all devices will use a 9.7-inch panel.
The latest models will sport HD displays with a QXGA resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels that will be further brightened with dual-LED light bars.
The next generation device will run on Samsung’s quad-core A6 processor, more powerful than the iPad 2’s dual-core A5 processor.
Samsung will also help Apple build a 5MP camera for one of the iPad models and Sony will step in to help with the 8MP camera on the high-end model.
If what the supply chain sources are telling Digitimes is true, Apple loyalists have a lot to look forward to next month.
